One Year In, Many Miles to Go: Evidence, Innovation and Access at the 11th HTA Conference
With the participation of 18 distinguished Greek and 7 international speakers and more than 180 participants – including health professionals, researchers, academics, policymakers, industry representatives and patient advocates – the largest annual conference on Health Technology Assessment in Greece, organized by Health Daily and Boussias Events, was successfully concluded. The 11th HTA Conference, held under the theme “Aligning Evidence, Innovation and Access in Greece and Europe’s Evolving HTA Landscape”, took place on September 24th, 2026 at the Divani Caravel Hotel in Athens.
With the EU HTA Regulation in effect since January 2025, this year’s edition took on particular strategic significance, serving as a critical forum to explore the challenges, opportunities and transformative changes it introduces.
Over the course of five sessions, the conference addressed the full spectrum of HTA’s evolving landscape: the first real-world lessons from Joint Clinical Assessments, Greece’s positioning within the new European framework, the persistent gap between HTA decisions and reimbursement reality, the still-unresolved frontier of medical devices and biotech, and the long road from token patient participation to genuine co-creation. Truths were spoken that gave pause -on access delays, on systemic gaps, on what innovation actually costs and who bears that cost. But alongside the challenges, a clear direction emerged: more collaboration, stronger evidence, and a shared commitment to putting patients at the center of every decision.
